Chris Herbert

Meet Chris Herbert – Neptune Finance

Finance Advocate

Chris isn’t just another broker with spreadsheets and sharp suits. He’s a rare kind of finance expert — someone who’s lived and breathed both sides of the new home journey. Before founding Neptune Finance, Chris spent years helping hundreds of West Aussies get into new builds while leading one of Perth’s largest residential building teams. He’s seen it all: the wins, the pitfalls, and the clever workarounds that turn a good customer experience into a great one.

With over 12 years in finance and insurance, Chris blends deep technical knowledge with genuine empathy for the emotional rollercoaster that buying or building a home can be. He doesn’t just “find loans” — he listens, solves problems, and simplifies the path forward. Whether you’re chasing your first home, tapping into equity, or building that long-dreamed-of forever space, Chris is the calm voice you’ll want in your corner. Based in Osborne Park with a fully digital-friendly setup, he can guide your finance journey from anywhere — online, after hours, or on your lunch break.

Born and bred in Woodvale, Chris is a proud local with a down-to-earth approach that cuts through the overwhelm. Off the clock, you’ll likely find him chalking up a win on the pool table or riding through Perth’s northern suburbs. But when he’s working for you? Expect clarity, strategy, and the kind of straight-talking, experienced guidance that only comes from someone who’s stood on the building site long before they sat behind a broker’s desk.

Sophie McCluskey

Meet Sophie McCluskey – Resolve Finance Bushmead

Finance Advocate

For Sophie, this isn’t just a career — it’s a calling. At 19, she built her very first home and quickly realised just how daunting the finance and building world could be without the right guidance. That lived experience sparked a mission: to become the kind of broker she wished she’d had — one who speaks in plain English, empowers clients through education, and makes the whole process feel more human.

With a degree in Economics and Finance, five years of in-house experience with a major WA builder, and two successful home builds of her own, Sophie brings serious credentials and rare perspective. She understands building contracts, construction timelines, and what really matters when the rubber hits the road. Her clients don’t just get a great home loan — they get a strategic partner who knows how to make the numbers work while keeping the stress levels low.

Supported by an exceptional WA-based team, Sophie brings calm to chaos and detail to every deal. She’s as analytical as she is approachable, and never forgets the emotional stakes that come with buying or building a home. When she’s not solving finance puzzles or celebrating client milestones, you’ll find her walking her dogs, Luna and Hugo, or unwinding with a glass of red in the Swan Valley. For Sophie, it’s always personal — and that’s exactly why her clients trust her.

Nope! Many of our Perth-based clients get started from just $1,000 upfront. We work with lenders that allow low-deposit or even no-deposit options tied to your rental history.
That’s more common than you’d think. We specialise in finding second-chance lenders and understanding complex situations that many big banks overlook.
If your documents are ready, pre-approval can take as little as a few hours. Full approval varies, but we typically guide Perth clients through it in under 2 weeks, sometimes as soon as next day.
Yes! WA still offers a $10,000 grant for new builds. We’ll help you apply correctly and make sure your loan is structured to take advantage of it.
In WA, common extras include LMI (if borrowing over 80%), land settlement fees, siteworks, and lender setup fees. We outline these upfront so there are no surprises.
No – but with Government Supported shared equity arrangements available in Perth, this can be a great option to reduce your repayments while still obtaining home ownership.
Yes. Some lenders now accept consistent rental history in place of traditional savings, helping first-home buyers get in sooner with less cash saved.
A fixed loan locks in your rate for a set term (e.g. 2-5 years), offering stability. Variable rates can go up or down, offering flexibility but also risk.
Absolutely. Many WA lenders understand FIFO income structures. We’ll help package your payslips and rosters to meet lender criteria.
No, however given Perth’s competitive land market. A Letter Of Eligibility provided by our Finance Advocate will give you confidence and negotiating power when securing your ideal block and home.
